PRESS RELEASE
August 15, 2006
BONNIE RAITT DONATES SEATS
TO PROTECT SPOKANE RIVER AND LAKE PEND OREILLE
Bonnie Raitt and special
guest Keb’Mo’ will be appearing in Spokane at the Spokane Opera House/INB
Performing Arts Center on Saturday, September 2, 2006 at 8:00 p.m. All
proceeds from 20 tickets, which include some of the best seats in the house,
will be donated by Bonnie Raitt to the I Love the Spokane River Campaign
and Rock Creek Alliance.
I Love the Spokane River
Campaign is working to protect the Spokane River—the Inland Northwest’s
cultural, historical, recreational and economic heart. The Spokane River
has endured decades of industrial pollution, dams and municipal sewage
discharges. Public involvement is needed to ensure proper cleanup of the
river.
Rock Creek Alliance is working
to protect Lake Pend Oreille and the Cabinet Mountains Wilderness Area
from the proposed Rock Creek mine. The Rock Creek mine is slated to be
built beneath the Cabinet Mountains Wilderness in northwestern Montana
and would generate perpetual pollution that would flow into the historic
Clark Fork River and Idaho’s Lake Pend Oreille. The proposed mine also
threatens wilderness lakes and protected wildlife species including grizzly
bear and bull trout.
For more information or to
reserve your ticket, call the I Love the Spokane River Campaign at 509-953-6437
or the Rock Creek Alliance at 208-265-8272. Tickets sell for $350 and are
located in Section 4, Row A of the Orchestra section and Section 8, Row
H of the Orchestra section. Ticket price includes an opportunity to meet
backstage with Bonnie Raitt. Tickets are limited and expected to go fast.
