TO STOP THE RE-LICENSING OF INDIAN POINT NUCLEAR POWER PLANT

On Friday January 18 2008, Ani DiFranco and Pete Seeger will be at the Riverspace Theatre in Nyack, NY, for a special benefit concert to help fund the legal campaign to stop the re-licensing of the Indian Point nuclear power plant. Both Ani and Pete are donating their services.

The proceeds from the show will benefit the legal campaign work that The Hudson River Sloop Clearwater, WestCAN (Westchester Citizen's Awareness Network), and other community groups that are working on to stop re-licensing of Indian Point for another 20 years.

Indian Point is leaking radioactive waste into the Hudson River, is one of the most vulnerable terrorist targets, and has 20 million people without a workable evacuation plan living in its shadows. We can replace the energy, not the lives.

Pete Seeger, lived in Nyack as young boy and has had a long history of activism on a variety of social change, peace, and environmental issues. He has been very outspoken on the issue of nuclear power and the Indian Point Nuclear power plant of Hudson, in particular. He is a true American folk hero and an inspiration to all those who support peace and justice.

Ani DiFranco has been active in issues that relate the public interest since she started her career some 15 years ago in the bars of Buffalo. She speaks from the heart and has formed her own record company, Righteous Babe Records, to give that heart a clear voice.
